Acadia National Park is one of the most visited parks in the USA. It’s popular because it’s relatively close to Boston and has excellent hiking and scenery, including a beautiful rocky Maine coast with lighthouses.

It preserves most of Mount Desert Island. In addition to Mount Desert Island, Acadia covers much of the Isle au Haut, a small island to the southwest of Mount Desert Island and parts of Baker Island, also nearby. A portion of Schoodic Peninsula on the mainland is also part of this national park.
