Shenandoah National Park is a beautiful, historic national treasure which includes the 105-mile long Skyline Drive, a National Scenic Byway. The Park covers the crest of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for over seventy-five miles. The Appalachian Trail roughly parallels the Skyline Drive and 101 miles of this trail run through the Park. Autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a special time of year as the hills come alive with bold, beautiful colors. The color in this National Park is varied as there are over 100 varieties of native trees, creating a kaleidoscope of color.

As early as mid-September, you’ll be able to see color changes in trees above 4,000 feet, with the peak colors present at middle and lower elevations between mid-October and early November.
